We are judgmental people living in a flawed world, but we need to be careful not to “throw the baby out with the bath water”. There are many flawed things that we need to be proud of, unashamed, and supportive. I heard about a boy playing baseball in an important little league ball game. The bases were loaded with 2 outs in the last inning and the team in the field was ahead by one. The batter hits a pop-up to center and the player loses it in the lights and thus doesn’t catch it. They lose. The father of the player who bobbled the catch runs out and says “Son, I want you to know I’m proud of you!”. The boy asks why he’s proud. “You’ve worked hard all year, made many good plays, and you will grow from the experience. The future’s bright.” Sometimes we can’t see it, but the imperfect things around us often are much better than their flaws. Let us be proud of good things! “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, because it is God’s power for salvation, to everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16)
