Close to 60 people gathered at Ceccoli Vineyards in Winnie last Thursday as the Winnie Stowell Lions Club hosted an evening social with guest speaker retired Texas Ranger Brandon Bess.

Lions Club President Bill Keating welcomed the crowd and introduced Bess. Keating then served as interviewer asking several questions of Bess about his upbringing and family, and his experiences in law enforcement and as a Texas Ranger.

Bess talked about his years as a DPS patrolman, his years as an undercover agent and his 12 years as a Texas Ranger. He talked about the cold cases he worked on, and the satisfaction he and his team felt when they were able to solve a cold case. “Closure is what you bring to the table for the families, “said Bess. “And that makes all the hard work worth it.”

Bess also told the crowd about some of his cases making national news on such shows as “24 Hours” and Dateline.

Both Keating and Bess provided humor to the interview which made for a very informative and enjoyable evening.

The motto for the Lions Club is “we serve”. If you would like to join, call Bill Keating at 409-239-3550. The WS Lions Club meets every first and third Tuesday at Tony’s BBQ in Stowell at noon.
