The East Chambers Lady Buccaneers volleyball team spent the week on the road, facing a pair of tough opponents before making the short trip to Anahuac on Tuesday, October 6th.
The Lady Bucs opened the week Tuesday, September 29th, traveling to Hardin to take on the Lady Hornets. East Chambers battled throughout the match but fell 1-3.
Leading the Lady Bucs offensively against Hardin was #3 Mikeala Quave with four kills, followed by #5 Kenley George and #11 Makayla Montoya with three kills apiece.
Defensively, #0 Jimena Vargas recorded 17 digs, while #2 Adalyn Blank finished with 16 digs. Montoya also contributed 14 digs. Setting the offense was #8 Addie Parker with 10 assists.
East Chambers was back on the road Friday, October 2nd, traveling to Orangefield to face the Lady Bobcats. The Lady Bucs again battled hard but came up short, falling 1-3.
Montoya led the offensive attack against Orangefield with 11 kills, while George added eight kills. Vargas anchored the defensive effort with 19 digs, followed by Blank with 13 digs.
Parker had a strong all-around performance, recording 14 assists, seven digs and three blocks. #4 Zanei Garza added four blocks at the net.
The Lady Bucs then traveled the short distance to Anahuac on Tuesday, October 6th, to take on the Lady Panthers. Results from that match were not available at press time.
East Chambers will remain on the road Friday, October 9th, when the Lady Bucs travel to Kirbyville to take on the Lady Cats.
