OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Ernest Ceasar of Texas Wesleyan University has been named the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Offensive Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year, as announced by the league office Friday afternoon.
The honors were determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Ceasar propelled the Rams to an undefeated regular season, rushing for 1,109 yards and an NAIA single-season record of 40 touchdowns, averaging 110.9 yards per game. He also led the SAC in all-purpose yardage with 1,369 yards and concluded his collegiate career with 63 rushing touchdowns.
The SAC also recognized other standout performers. Isiah Cotton of OUAZ was named Defensive Player of the Year, while Draylon Roberson of Panhandle State earned Special Teams Player of the Year. Corey Floyd, Jr., of OUAZ was honored as Newcomer of the Year, Tyrone Morgan of Wayland Baptist received Freshman of the Year, and Jarrail Jackson of Texas College was selected as Coach of the Year after leading the Steers to a historic 7-3 record.
Cotton anchored OUAZ’s defense, ranking fourth in the SAC with 79 tackles, including 35 solo stops. He also recorded 12.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Roberson excelled in the return game for Panhandle State, leading the league with 641 kick return yards and three touchdowns.
Floyd, Jr. paced OUAZ’s defensive front with 15.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, while Morgan contributed eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and 22 solo tackles for Wayland Baptist.
Jackson’s Texas College team posted its best season in program history, finishing 7-3 overall and tying for third in the SAC standings with a 5-3 conference record.
