The East Chambers County ISD Education Foundation held its 10th annual fundraising kickoff last Saturday night at the Winie-Stowell Community Building. Close to 300 people gathered to show their support for raising funds for student and teacher activities that are not covered by the traditional budget process. ECISD Superintendent Scott Campbell who also served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening very proudly announced that since its inception, the Education Foundation has allocated over $449,550 for students and teachers to enhance the education experience.

Cattleman’s Kitchen cooked a delicious ribeye steak dinner with all the fixings and desserts. The silent auction contained 44 items ranging from a hand painted leather purse to an autograph volleyball to a basket of homemade jams to Katherine White’s famous frosted sugar cookies! There was definitely something for everyone!

The Live Auction with 24 items was competitive and fun to watch. Attendees bid on fishing trips, Yellow Rose Meat Market beef package, signed Alex Bregman jersey, a “spirits” wagon, and guns. And the best part of the auction is the bidding of the “cakes”. A University of Texas cake brought in $1,100, the Louisiana State University cake brought in $1,000, and the winner, of course, was the Texas A&M University cake that sold for $2,100.00.
