The EC Runnin’ Bucs got off to a great start this year as they defeated Sabine Pass 61-40 on Friday, November 22nd. The Bucs used a smothering full court pressure defense in route to an 11-0 start. The press was pretty much the story of the game.

The Bucs were led by #23 Dayvon Wallace with 20 points and 7 rebounds; #3 Jaxson Pitre with 16 points and 5 rebounds; #1 Jarrell Smith with 10 points and 3 rebounds; #2 Earius Ceasar with 5 rebounds; #10 Cameron Dillard with 6 points and 5 rebounds; Evan Callahan with 5 points and 1 rebound; and #12 Colby West with 4 points and 2 rebounds.

The Buccaneers played Northshore High school out of Slidell, Louisiana on Satuday, November 30th in Lake Charles in the Louisiana versus Texas Challenge. The Buccaneers came up short 61 to 53 played really hard and pretty good defensively. Coach Sutherland commented, “We did not rebound well nor shoot all that great, part of it because of their defensive pressure. All in all good showing though.”

Leading scores for the Buccaneers were #3 Jaxson Pitre with 14 points and 8 rebounds; #10 Cameron Dillard with 12 points and 2 rebounds; #12 Colby West with 9 points and 2 rebounds; #1 Jarrell Smith with 8 points and 1 rebound; Evan Callahan with 4 points and 3 rebounds; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 4 points and 2 rebounds; and #20 Darius Edmonson with 3 points and 1 rebound.

The Runnin’ Bucs hosted the Evadale Rebels Tuesday, December 3rd. They will travel to Evadale on Thursday, December 5th – Saturday, December 7th to compete in the Evadale Tournament. The Runnin’ Bucs will be back home on Tuesday, December 10th as they host Onalaska with Varsity tipoff at 7:30pm.
