East Chambers Buccaneers vs. Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans

By Team Reports

You’re bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that’s exactly how it played out for East Chambers on Friday, October 17th. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans out of the water with a 54-6 final score. The game marked the Buccaneers’ most dominant victory of the season.

It was another big night for JD Zurby, who threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards and one TD. Koby Jones was another key player, rushing for 78 yards and one score on only ten carries.

The win made it two in a row for East Chambers and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Coldspring-Oakhurst, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

We’ve got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. East Chambers is set to square off against their familiar foe Kirbyville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 24th. Meanwhile, Coldspring-Oakhurst will face off against rival Buna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24th.
