EC Buccaneers Start the Season off Right with a Win on the Road Against Rice Consolidated Raiders

  The East Chambers Buccaneers were on the road to play their first game of the 2025 season on Friday, August 29th where they took on the Rice Consolidated Raiders. Although the drive was long, the win was worth the trip. The Buccaneers were leading by one touchdown at half-time with a score of EC 14 – Rice Consolidated 7. As the night went on, the Buccaneers defense held the Raiders off and the Bucs offense took the lead with a final score of 35-10.

  Leading the Buccaneers to victory were #15 JD Zurby and #1 Koby Jones. Zurby rushed for a total of 130 yards with only 3 carries, and scored 2 touchdowns. Jones rushed for 107 yards, had 13 carries, and scored 2 touchdowns. #13 Josh Smith had 2 carries for 8 yars, and 1 touchdown; #5 Rashard Hale had 8 carries for 48 yards; and #16 Jessie Moore had 2 carries for 14 yards.

  Quarterback #15 JD Zurby was 4 for 9 with a total of 46 passing yards. Receiving for the Bucs were: #1 Koby Jones with 2 receptions for 26 yards; #2 Colby West 1 reception for 10 yards; and #12 Tanner Salazar with 1 reception for 10 yards.

  Leading the Bucs defensively were #7 Reid Todd with 6 solo tackles, and 2 assists; #12 Tanner Salazar with 2 solo tackles, 4 assists, and 1 TFL; #52 Aiden Baker with 5 solo tackles, and 1 assist; #20 Tai’Veon Harmon with 4 solo tackles, 1 assist, and 1 TFL; #22 Dalton Dishman with 4 solo tackles, and 1 assist; #44 Sean Beighley with 2 solo tackles, 2 assists, and 2 TFL; #10 Darius Edmonson with 3 solo tackles, 1 assist, and 1 TFL;and #2 Colby West with 2 solo tackles, 1 assist, and 1 TFL.

  Junior #3 Ethan West had an interception.

  Kicker #6 Adan Garcia was 5 of 5 scoring 5 points for the Bucs.

  Looking ahead, the East Chambers Buccaneers will host the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks on Friday, September 5th with kickoff at 7:30pm.
