Left, left, left, right, left. The EC Buccaneer Marching Band has been putting in the work since June of this summer preparing for the 2025 Marching Season.

The Buccaneer Band is under the direction of Ms. Stormy Semich, Director of Bands and Mrs. Dina Bordelon, Assistant Band Director. The Buccaneer Band leadership and colorguard attended their first camp in June at East Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX. While at camp, the leadership worked on marching drills, how to teach others, and leadership skills for on and off the field. The colorguard worked on technique, skills, and new tricks.

Feature twirler, Kylie Bordelon, attended twirling camp at Stephen F Austin State University in July. She has been working on new tricks and routines for this upcoming year.

The EC Buccaneer Band hosted its first annual Percussion Camp in July. During this camp, Junior High and High School percussionist worked on music theory, rhythms, and a few short ensembles.

Marching practices began in July and continued into August with students learning the fundamentals of marching, working on stand tunes, and learning the music and drill for their 2025 marching show titled “If I Only…”.

The band completed their summer marching practices with a Show Off and Band Cookout held on Friday, August 8th at the Buccaneer Stadium.

Director of Bands, Stormy Semich, told The Seabreeze Beacon, “We are very excited to see how the kids progress throughout the season. The work they’ve put in has been impressive. The energy amongst the group has been very high and positive, so we are looking forward to seeing everything they accomplish in the next few months!”

“The kids have already put in so much hard work this year. We are so excited to see where their hard work and dedication takes them this year!”, Assistant Director of Bands, Dina Bordelon.

The band would like to thank the following for their help throughout the year: the Band Boosters, Mrs. Dodd, Ms. Paniagua, Mr. Wilson, and Jaydon McDonald.

The band is looking forward to the 2025 marching season and hope you will come out to watch them.
