The East Chambers Buccaneers went on the road and defeated the Kirbyville Wildcats 62-51 on Tuesday, January 27th. Coach Sutherland commented, “It was a win, but it was not pretty, especially defensively. We did not do a good job of being locked in on defense. Of course, some of that had to do with Kirbyville.”

The Buccaneers were led by Cam Dillard with 21 points, and Evan Callahan with 19.

This moves, the Buccaneers record to 23-5 on the year and 7-1 in district.

It was a rough night in Winnie on Saturday, January 31st for the Buccaneers. The Bucs held on for a 91-87 double overtime win over the Warren Warriors but defensively struggled all night. The Runnin’ Bucs actually built a 17 point lead at one point before completely blowing it in the fourth quarter. It took clutch free throws at the end of the game and in both overtime to secure the victory.

“It was a great game plan by Coach David Nungester and the Warriors,” commented Coach Sutherland.

The Bucs are now 24-5 and 8-1 on the year.

The Buccaneers traveled to Orangefield to take on the Orangefield Bobcats on Tuesday, February 3rd. The Runnin’ Bucs will host the Hardin Hornets on Friday, February 6th with tip-off at 7:30pm. The Bucs will be on the road again on Tuesday, February 10th when they travel to Kountze to take on the Lions with tip-off at 7:30pm. The Bucs will celebrate Senior Night on Friday, February 13th when they host the Buna Cougars with a tip-off at 6:00pm. The final game of the regular season will be held on Tuesday, February 17th in Anahuac against the Panthers with tip-off at 6:00pm.
