The Runnin’ Bucs hosted the Evadale Rebels Tuesday, December 3rd. What a game! In a game that had huge swings, the EC Runnin’ Bucs outlasted the very talented Evadale Rebels 60-56.
The Buccaneers jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter, only to find themselves behind in the second quarter. Much of this was due to Evadale forcing turnovers and controlling the glass. Evadale then stretched to lead to eight in the third quarter before the Buccaneers came back and took the lead in the mid fourth quarter.
Buccaneers were led by #4 Cam Dillard with 18 points and 6 rebounds; #1 Jarrell Smith with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals; #5 Colby West with 13 points, and 8 steals; #3 Jaxson Pitre with 7 points 10 rebounds, and 3 steals; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal; and #21 Evan Callahan with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.
The EC Bucs then traveled to Evadale to compete in the Evadale basketball tournament. The following are day one results.
Game 1: Bridge City 52 East Chambers 43. The Buccaneers lost to a very talented and well coached team. The Buccaneers did not help themselves as they turned it over. The Runnin’ Bucs played very hard, but they just could not overcome the turnover issue. The Bucs were led by #3 Jaxson Pitre with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 steals; #4 Cameron Dillard with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal; #5 Colby West with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 6 points and 3 rebounds; and #1 Jarrell Smith with 2 points, and 4 steals.
Game 2: East Chambers 60 Huntington 46. The Bucs were flying around on defense and forced numerous turnovers. Also they were very unselfish offensively. The Bucs were led by #3 Jaxson Pitre with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals; #1 Jarrell Smith with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals; #4 Cameron Dillard with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals; #20 Darius Edmonson with 6 points and 1 rebound; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal; and #21 Evan Callahan with 5 points and 3 rebounds.
The East Chambers Buccaneers competed in day two of the Evadale tournament. The following are the results. Game 1: Livingston 56 EC 55. The Bucs jumped out to a 16 7 lead at the end of the first quarter. And then completely imploded in the second quarter as they got out scored 20 to 4. In fact, the Bucs were down as many as 21 early in the fourth quarter. They never quit and then made an unbelievable comeback as they briefly took the lead a time or 2. The Runnin’ Bucs had a chance to win and just didn’t get it done. The Bucs were led by #21 Evan Callahan with 15 points, 1 rebounds, and 2 steals; #1 Jarrell Smith with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 4 steals; #5 Colby West with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal; #3 Jaxson Pitre with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 6 points and 4 rebounds; #4 Cameron Dillard with 2 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal.
Game 2: East Chambers 63 Beaumont Kelly 43. The Runnin’ Bucs played extremely hard and defeated Beaumont Kelly 63 to 43. The Buccaneers were led by #3 Jaxson Pitre with 14 points and 14 rebounds; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals; #21 Evan Callahan with 11 points and 6 rebounds; #4 Cameron Dillard with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal; #20 Darius Edmonson with 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals; #1 Jarrell smith with 4 points and 2 rebounds; #5 Colby West with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals; #10 Aidan Singh with 2 points and 1 steal; and #2 Earius Ceasar with 1 point, 1 rebound, and 2 steals.
The East Chambers Buccaneers finished the Evadale basketball tournament with a 60-36 win over Huntington. The Bucs created havoc with the full court press and caused numerous turnovers which led to easy buckets. The Bucs were also very unselfish on offense. Leading the Bucs were #1 Jarrell Smith with 18 points, and 1 steal; #3 Jaxson Pitre with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals; #23 Dayvon Wallace with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals; #4 Cameron Dillard with 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals; #21 Evan Callahan with 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals; #5 Colby West with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals; #11 Aden Thornton with 2 points and 1 rebound; and #20 Darius Edmonson with 2 points and 5 steals.
The Runnin’ Bucs record are now 4-3 on the year.
The Runnin’ Bucs hosted Onalaska on Tuesday, December 10th. They will travel to Frankston to compete in tournament play Thursday, December 12th – Saturday, December 14th. The Runnin’ Bucs will stay on the road as they travel to Kirbyville on Tuesday, December 17th as they begin District play and take on the Wildcats.
