East Chambers Lady Bucs Softball celebrate Teacher Appreciation Night on Tuesday, March 31st.

  The East Chambers Lady Bucs were at home Tuesday, March 31st as they hosted the Orangefield Lady Bobcats. On Thursday, April 2nd, the Lady Bucs traveled to Hardin to take on the Lady Hornets.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers Stymied By Orangefield

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers had trouble keeping up with Orangefield in a 14-0 loss on Tuesday.

Orangefield jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Becker singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Gamblin singled, scoring two runs, and Sanches homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Orangefield scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Droddy doubled, scoring one run, Lee singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, #20 singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Destiney Deyoung induced Angelon to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Deyoung started the game for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The starting pitcher allowed 10 hits and 14 runs (seven earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking three. Ribodeaux started in the circle for Orangefield. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.

Zoe Selby and Deyoung each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers.

Orangefield collected 10 hits in the game. Sanches provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Orangefield with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Gamblin led Orangefield with three hits in four at bats. Orangefield turned one double play in the game. Orangefield were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Droddy made the most plays with six.

Late Comeback From Hardin Costs East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers stayed in it until the end, but Hardin pulled away late in a 2-1 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Beasley singled, scoring one run.

Both teams were strong in the circle. Hardin pitchers struck out one, while East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers sat down three.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers opened the scoring in the second after Destiney Deyoung hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Hardin scored on a passed ball, which helped Hardin tie the game at one in the bottom of the fifth.

Deyoung opened the game for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Dryden started in the circle for Hardin. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking four.

Rilynne Ortego, Emily Vratis, and Jadynn Smith each collected one hit for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Deyoung led the team with one run batted in. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers turned one double play in the game. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Smith had the most chances in the field with five.

Beasley went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Elmore, Turner, and Quevedo each collected two hits for Hardin.

Next up for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers is a game against Anahuac on Tuesday, April 7th at home. The Lady Bucs will be on the road on Friday April 10th as they travel to Kirbyville to take on the Lady Wildcats.
