East Chambers Buccaneers Comeback of the Season Against the Kirbyville Wildcats 58-52

  What a game it was against the Kirbyville Wildcats! The East Chambers Buccaneers (6-1) traveled to Kirbyville last Friday, October 24th to take on the Kirbyville Wildcats (3-4). The Wildcats were serious and ready to take care of business. However, after the half-time coaches talk, the Buccaneers came back out firing on all cylinders and took back the game! Your East Chambers Buccaneers came home with the win 58-52 over the Kirbyville Wildcats.

  The first half of the game was a nail-biter for players, coaches, and fans alike. Every time each team had possession of the ball, a TD was scored. The Bucs would score PATs and the Wildcats kept scoring 2pt conversions. At halftime the score was EC 28 – Kirbyville 46.

  After the awesome halftime performance by our Buccaneer band, the Bucs had a major come back. Your EC Buccaneers ran the score up to 50 points from their previous 28 points. The Bucs held the Wildcats to only scoring 6 points in the 2nd half. The score now 50-52, the Buccaneers knew what they had to do to insure the win. The Bucs fought hard to get the final TD and 2pt conversion to win 58-52.

  The play of the game would be the clutch pass from Senior QB #15 JD Zurby to Junior #10 Darius Edmonson and putting them in good field position for a TD followed by the 2pt conversion made by Senior #24 Luke Hampton.

  There were several impressive offensive performances from the Buccaneers starting with Senior QB #15 JD Zurby who threw for 338 yards and 4 touchdowns while picking up 16.9 yards per attempt. Zurby also rushed for 52 yards on only 7 carries. JD Zurby now has a new career high with those 338 passing yards. Senior #1 Koby Jones was another key to the Buccaneers win against the Wildcats. Jones rushed for 150 yards on 25 carries and scored 4 touchdowns.

  Sophomore Kicker #6 Adan Garcia was 6 for 6 on PATs and kicked 3 kickoffs for a total of 43 yards. Sophomore Kicker #33 Max Vargas kicked 6 kickoffs for a total of 240 yards.

  Scoring for the Bucs include: Junior #2 Colby West with 2 receiving touchdowns; Junior #10 Darius Edmonson with 1 receiving touchdown; and Senior #24 Luke Hampton with 1 receiving touchdown and 1 receiving 2pt conversion.

  Offensively the Buccaneers were led by: #1 Koby Jones with 2 receptions for 19 yards; #2 Colby West with 3 receptions for 114 yards; #5 Rashard Hale 1 reception for 6 yards; #10 Darius Edmonson with 3 receptions for 136 yards; and #24 Luke Hampton with 1 receptions for 69 yards.

  Defensively the Buccaneers were led by: #7 Reid Todd with 10 solo tackles, and 2 assists; #8 Bryce Guilllory with 6 solo tackles, 5 assists, and 1 PD; #52 Aiden Baker with 9 solo tackles, 2 assists, and 1 Hurs; #40 Gradyn Oliver with 5 solo tackles, 2 assists, 1 TFL, and 2 Hurs; #22 Dalton Dishman with 5 solo tackles, 1 TFL, 2 Hurs, and 1 Fumble recovery; #12 Tanner Salazar with 1 solo tackle, 4 assists, and 2 PDs; #24 Luke Hampton with 3 solo tackles, 1 assist, and 1 Hurs; and #10 Darius Edmonson with 1 solo tackle, 1 assist, 1 TFL, and 1 sack for 12 yards loss.

  The East Chambers Buccaneers (7-1) will host the Orangefield Bobcats (6-2) on Friday, October 31st with kickoff at 7:30pm at Buccaneer Stadium. This has also been named the 12NewsNow Game of the Week. Come out and support your Buccaneers!
