East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers Fall Victim To Kirbyville Rally

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers lost to Kirbyville 14-9 on Tuesday even though they once led by four runs.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kirbyville dropped a third strike, and Tanner Salazar singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Reagan doubled, which helped Kirbyville tie the game at two in the top of the second.

In the bottom of the third, East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers broke up the tie when Sam Cathriner doubled, scoring one run. Then a single by Braxtyn Trahan followed to extend the lead to 5-2.

Kirbyville flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead, 10-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Cloud that drove in three.

Hank Huff started on the bump for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The starter allowed eight hits and eight runs over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking five. Murphy stepped on the bump first for Kirbyville. The starter allowed seven hits and six runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers tallied nine hits in the game. Cathriner and Grant Jones each collected two hits for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Cathriner, Trahan, and Jones each drove in two runs for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Reid Todd stole two bases. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers turned one double play in the game. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Cathriner had the most chances in the field with six.

Kirbyville tallied 12 hits in the game. Coleman went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Kirbyville in hits. Reagan and Cloud each drove in three runs for Kirbyville. Myers paced Kirbyville with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.


 

Tanner Salazar’s Big Day Propels East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers Past Kirbyville

Tanner Salazar collected three hits in four at bats, as East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers defeated Kirbyville 9-1 on Friday. Salazar singled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Salazar singled, scoring two runs, and Sam Cathriner grounded out, scoring one run.

Moss hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first for the Kirbyville.

Hayden Leveck opened the game for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. The righty gave up three hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking three. Moss started on the bump for Kirbyville. The hurler allowed 11 hits and 10 runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking three. Grant Jones appeared in relief for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Landon Lockhart, Jones, and Reid Todd each collected multiple hits for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. Hank Huff stole two bases. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers stole four bases in the game. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Case Rayburn had the most chances in the field with nine.

Moss led Kirbyville with one run batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Murphy, Myers, Moss, and Reagan each collected one hit for Kirbyville. Kirbyville turned one double play in the game.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers play at home on Tuesday against Buna in their next game.
