Hank Huff With 3 Hits As East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers Beat Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans

Hank Huff collected three hits in four at bats, as East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers defeated Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans 10-0 on Monday. Huff doubled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Huff struck out 11 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings while walking one.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Huff doubled down the left field line, Koby Jones doubled to left field, and Case Rayburn grounded out, each scoring one run.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ethan Meissner doubled, scoring one run, Huff singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Sam Cathriner doubled, scoring one run, and Martinez induced Tanner Salazar to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Martinez took the loss for Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking one. Roberts started the game for Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and six runs (four earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking three.

East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers accumulated nine hits in the game. Zach Richey, Jones, Cathriner, Huff, Meissner, Rayburn, and Salazar each drove in one run for East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers. East Chambers Varsity Buccaneers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Rayburn had the most chances in the field with nine.

Leadoff hitter Bailey led Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans with two hits in two at bats. Port Arthur Memorial Varsity Titans turned one double play in the game.
