Macy Middleton, founder of The Chambers County Children’s Museum, welcomed dozens of community leaders and supporters to the museum this past Monday to showcase its new expansion and exhibits. “We are so thrilled that the business community and the people of this community have embraced our museum,” said Macy. “When we first opened our doors three years ago, I would never have imaged that we would be utilizing our “extra” space for six more exhibits so soon!”

Designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and hand-on discovery, the expansion introduces two new meeting rooms alongside immersive exhibit experiences centered around kinetics, music, cardboard creation, LEGO cars, Carbon Capture and Store, and nature exploration.

The expansion was made possible through the generous support of community partners and philanthropic organizations, including Houston Endowment, ExxonMobil, Barbers Hill Education Foundation, 1PointFive, Moody Foundation, CenterPoint Energy, Community Auto Group, Shell, First Liberty Bank, OneOK, McDonald’s of Mont Belvieu, Accent Compliance, Energy Transfer, H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust, Targa Resources, Strake Foundation, Sjolander Interests, TGS Cedar Port, and the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Foundation.

Together, these organizations fully funded the construction and development of the new exhibits and expansion space.

“I want to thank our staff who have worked so hard to bring these new exhibits to fruition. Thank you to Kathy Harrison – Executive Director, Raegan Medina – Program Director, and Paul Bernard – designer of the space use and exhibitions, and to our amazing Board of Directors,” said Macy.

The Chambers County Children’s Museum is located at 10955 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu, Texas. It is opened Tuesdays through Saturday, from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from Noon to 5pm. There is still time to sign up for on site summer camps and activities. For more information, visit www.chamberscountychildrensmuseum.org, or email [email protected], or call 832-207-0290.
