August recess is always one of my favorite times of the year because it gives me the chance to be back home. While Congress isn’t in session, I travel across the 36th District, meeting face-to-face with constituents, businesses, and community leaders to share how I’m working for you in Washington. From local chambers and law enforcement leaders to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, it’s a privilege to highlight Southeast Texas’ leadership and values. And after eleven years in Congress, I can tell you these past seven months have been among the busiest and fastest-paced I’ve experienced in Washington. And we aren’t slowing down — we’re working every day to deliver on the mandate the American people gave to President Trump and Republicans in Congress. |
I traveled to NASA alongside Acting Administrator and Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, and Senator Ted Cruz. Johnson Space Center, from Mission Control to the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, is at the heart of America’s return to the Moon through Artemis and beyond. I’m proud that TX-36 is home to JSC — a national treasure that keeps America first in space. |
I was glad to join the Mont Belvieu Chamber of Commerce to give a firsthand update on the work I’m doing in Washington — including important legislation like the One Big, Beautiful Bill, the largest tax cut in American history. From cutting red tape and protecting small businesses, to supporting our energy producers, I’m making sure Southeast Texas always has a strong voice at the table. |
While in Mont Belvieu, I was proud to present an award to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, who was recently named President of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas. His dedication, integrity, and leadership in law enforcement make Southeast Texas proud, and I was honored to recognize him for this well-deserved achievement. |
It’s always a treat to wrap up a day at the lake with a meal at a TX-36 favorite — The Stump Restaurant. I enjoyed visiting with owner Mike Taylor and his great team. I was proud to share that we passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill, delivering NO TAX ON TIPS OR OVERTIME. That’s a huge win for workers and small business owners like Mike — helping families keep more of what they earn and keeping our local businesses strong. |
I had the opportunity to visit the Beaumont Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center and see the outstanding work being done there. This state-of-the-art center helps our officers track, prevent, and respond to crime in real time — keeping our neighborhoods safer and our officers better equipped. Law enforcement officers are on the front lines every day, protecting our communities. Their work at the Real Time Crime Center makes Beaumont and Southeast Texas safer places to live, work, and raise a family. |
Sincerely, | | | Rep. Brian Babin |
