It’s hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Anahuac can now relate to. They were dealt a 62-21 loss at the hands of the Fairfield Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can’t take it too hard given the team’s big disadvantage in MaxPreps’ Texas football rankings (they are ranked 735th, while the Eagles are ranked 94th).

Leading Fairfield to victory were Kohl Collins and Kyden Rodriguez. Collins threw for 387 yards and five TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes, while Rodriguez rushed for 143 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Fairfield’s leading receiver Kavion Hicks was Collins’ top target yet again, picking up 167 receiving yards and one score.

Anahuac dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Fairfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
