God can be trusted. He always does what is right, good, and needed, but it doesn’t feel that way a lot of times. The problem is that we have set ourselves up as the judge of what is fair and unfair. The book of Job is filled with arguments about God’s fairness being crystal clear. “Everybody knows” what is fair and God must be fair and this situation doesn’t seem fair thus somebody has messed things up and we know God doesn’t do that so it must be you, Job. Except Job had not done something that deserved this situation. So what is going on? God has a better definition of what is fair than we do. God is fair and we are mistaken. God saves based on grace. Grace is a free gift given to an undeserving person. Why does God do this? Because we need help that we truly can’t earn or deserve. If you think about it, grace is not “fair”, at least not to our definition. But God cares about fixing the lost, the broken, so He acts, not on a earned and deserved basis, but on a grace basis. Need help? Trust God. You’ll never be able to pay it back, but God doesn’t care about that. He just wants to help. Believe Him.
