I went to my doctor recently and he told me that if I took a certain medicine, studies showed I would live ten years longer than people with the symptom I had that didn’t take the medicine. The medicine had potential side effects, so I had to determine if I wanted to live 10 years with lesser problems or die earlier with less side effects. Is living a long time really always better? What if you have no truth, joy, or meaning of life? Life is a wonderful thing if you have truth, joy, and meaning, but empty and terrible if you believe lies, are depressed and empty. In John 8 Jesus said, “If you continue in My words you really are my disciples, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” You need more than just a long life. That’s nice but not the key. God created us and we need what we were created for: to know and love God. Get busy.
