As a vocal advocate for law enforcement throughout her time in office, Rep. In Galveston County, local law enforcement agencies have been awarded a total of $6,901,191.46 in grants from the Office of the Governor, including:
• Law Enforcement Bullet-Resistant Shield – $1,209,916.31
• Law Enforcement Enhanced Safety Project – $63,550
• Operation Lone Star – $3,131,281.42
• Body-Worn Cameras – $85,250.00
• Galveston County Law Enforcement Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Project – $86,875.00 • Rifle Resistant Body Armor – $91,740.00
• Law Enforcement Equipment Upgrade Project – $29,850.00
In Chambers County, law enforcement agencies have received a total of $603,113.16 in grants, including:
• Body-Worn Camera Project – $25,916.00
• Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program – $32,190.40
• Operation Lone Star – $310,777.75
• Bullet-Resistant Shield – $32,386.27
These grants underscore Rep. Leo Wilson’s dedication to ensuring that both urban and rural law enforcement agencies are well-equipped to handle the challenges they face in keeping Texans safe.

In addition to securing these grants, Rep. Leo Wilson proudly supported Senate Bill 22, which established the Rural Law Enforcement Salary Assistance Grant Program. Under SB 22, the Texas Comptroller’s Office awarded $350,000 to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, $175,000 to the District Attorney’s Office, and
$175,000 to the County Attorney’s Office to assist in raising law enforcement salaries and retaining critical personnel in rural areas where resources may be limited.
