As we stumble through life it is often frustrating as we are blind to so much and ignorant of most of the rest. 1 Peter 5:5 “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.” gives us welcome advice. The first part deals with how to not have God opposing you. Can you imagine God being against you? Why would He do that? Because you are proud. You think you are God and better and more important than everyone else. God will not bless that. How can we get God’s help? Be humble. Let God be God and Lord and love people, seeing them as more important than you. If we do that what will God do for me? He will give you grace. Grace is undeserved and wonderful. It may not be what you want but it is what you need. Basically you have God helping you. You may not be healthy or wealthy (those are not promised) but if you have God on your side He helps you do what you can’t do, such as loving your enemies, forgiving those who do you wrong, dealing with our weaknesses. 1 Peter goes on to say God will exalt you and cares for you. Don’t do life without God.
