Chambers County District Attorney Cheryl Lieck Henry had pleaded with visiting Judge Robert Trapp, presiding judge over the sentencing hearing of Michael Erich Kreuzer regarding Kreuzer’s guilty pleas to two counts of indecency exposure to a child, to sentence Kreuzer to some time in the state penitentiary. In her closing remarks during Kreuzer’s sentencing hearing, Henry passionately reminded the judge that the reason so many women do not report incidents of sexual harassment/abuse is because they are not taken seriously. Henry spoke of the embarrassment and humiliation the women who testified against Kreuzer must have felt, and of their courage and strength to be able to speak up in an open court to tell their story.

Henry’s pleas fell on deaf ears. Due to Kreuzer’s plea bargain, Judge Trapp sentenced him to deferred adjudicated probation. He will serve 10 years probation with community service of 200 hours. He must register as a sex offender and attend sex offender counseling. There will be no contact with the victim or co-defendants. He will spend a total of 180 days in county jail, which is 90 weekends. He must pay the victim’s medical expenses. He will wear a GPS ankle monitor, take a biyearly polygraph. There will be cell phone monitoring and alcohol monitoring. He cannot be within 1000 feet of the victim at any time.

The two sentences will be served concurrently.
