Bringing the “Buck” back to Bolivar

  The rain showers didn’t stop the crowd from coming out and enjoying the 2026 Bulls on Bolivar event presented by the Bolivar Arena Association. Bulls on Bolivar was held this past Saturday at the future sight of the Bolivar Arena at Swedes Park, 1605 Hwy 87, Crystal Beach. Livestock for the event was provided by the Champion Rodeo Company of Buffalo, TX. The crowd filled the stands and were excited to cheer on participants in Mutton Bustin’, Bull Riding, and the Sheep Scramble.

  The bull riding results are as follows: Round 1: AJ Hatchett 84 pts $1000. Round 2: AJ Hatchett 87 pts $600; and Earnest Brooks 80 pts $400. Round 3: Earnest Brooks 85 pts $600; and AJ Hatchett 84 pts $400. Finals: AJ Hatchett $780; and Earnest Brooks $520. The overall Bull Riding buckle winner was AJ Hatchett. Hatchett also had an opportunity to ride the Bounty Bull for $1500, but almost 8 seconds wasn’t enough for this young man.

  The Mutton Bustin’ Winner was 4-year-old Drue Dallas from Nederland, TX.

  The Bolivar Arena Association Board would like to thank everyone for attending this year’s event. All proceeds from the event will go toward the building fund for the Bolivar Arena.
