BEAUMONT, TX – Below is a summary of the work completed the week of January 5th on the maintenance  project that is currently underway at the Trinity River Bridge and the Old & Lost Bridge.

  • Crews prepped the surface by blasting, grinding, removing old stripes, and setting up forms for a new polymer overlay.
  • Work shifted to nighttime hours on the eastbound side for the rest of the week.
  • This week, Ragle Construction began smoothing and grooving the inside two lanes of the Trinity River bridge to get ready for final striping within the next 10 days.

The type of work on this project does not lend to 24/7 work or additional crews as all the work is phased with  each phase having to be completed before the next. Some of the repair work is underneath the bridges;  therefore, crews may not always be seen by the traveling public.

The work completed this week was on the bridge with no scheduled repair work happening underneath the  bridge.

TxDOT has worked with the contractor to expedite the project which is now anticipated to be completed two  months early. This timeline is subject to change and weather permitting.
